Since 1991, the Afghanistan Development and Vocational Training Program (ADVTP) has been working to secure the future of Afghan agriculture, with a special focus on expert water management. Operating under Organization License No. 301, we create practical irrigation solutions that fuel food security and empower rural communities.
Everything we do in irrigation comes from a humanitarian place. We’re here to support vulnerable farmers and make sure rural families have the water they need to survive and flourish.
Our Humanitarian Water & Irrigation Programs
1. Preserving Traditional Kareze Systems
We rehabilitate and clean traditional Kareze systems, bringing vital water back to drought-hit regions. These underground channels have supported local communities for centuries, and by restoring them, we’re making sure villages can count on a sustainable water supply.
2. Humanitarian Hydraulic Infrastructure
We design and build tough, reliable water control structures. These help communities manage their resources wisely, so water is shared fairly and not a drop goes to waste. Think small dams, sturdy irrigation gates, and practical flow regulation systems for farms.
3. Community Canal Rehabilitation
We lead the charge in cleaning and maintaining canals, making sure every farmer has access to water. By clearing out sediment and debris, and repairing damaged channels, we keep water flowing where it’s needed most. This keeps crops alive and communities thriving.
4. Flood Protection & River Management
Our team builds flood barriers and protects riverbanks to shield vulnerable riverside families from dangerous floods and erosion. We protect both farms and homes, helping communities stand strong against disaster.
Why Choose ADVTP for Water Management? The Vocational Link
Our irrigation projects double as hands-on training grounds. Inspired by our mission of “Vocational Excellence,” we tie technical water management skills into our vocational training for local youth and farmers. The people who benefit from these systems also learn how to maintain them, keeping the impact alive for future generations. That’s how we make our mark on agriculture and food security last.
