ADVTP Operational Event Ledger: Workshops, Field Trainings, and Community Activities

The Afghan Development and Vocational Training Program (ADVTP), registered under License No. 301 with the Ministry of Economy, runs hands-on workshops, technical trainings, and community development activities all across Afghanistan. These aren’t just events—they’re the way ADVTP gives people real skills, strengthens rural agricultural resilience, and rolls out critical public health programs right where they’re needed.

Everything we do sticks to strict humanitarian principles, with a clear focus on measurable human capital development and building true self-reliance in local communities.

Our Main Activities & Training Programs

ADVTP breaks down its field activities into three main types of workshops, and our Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) staff tracks every event so trainings stay efficient and transparent for our donors.

1. Technical & Vocational Capacity Workshops

These are fast-paced, hands-on trainings designed to help youth, women, and internally displaced people (IDPs) move quickly from unemployment to market-ready self-reliance.

What’s covered: Intensive training in garment making, textile work, computer skills, and basic mechanical trades.

How it works: We host these workshops in fully equipped regional centers, mixing practical technical lessons with small business management skills.

What you get: Participants take regular competency tests, and when they finish, they’re awarded an official ADVTP technical trade certificate.

2. WASH Infrastructure & Water Committee Trainings

To keep deep-well gravity-fed water systems working for the long haul, we run local workshops focused on engineering and upkeep.

What’s covered: We train locally elected Water User Committees in water governance, pipeline maintenance, and aquifer protection.

How it works: Field engineers run hands-on trainings right in target villages, teaching local technicians how to handle maintenance on their own, without outside help.

Big picture: These technical workshops are paired with village-wide hygiene and sanitation campaigns to cut down on the spread of seasonal waterborne illnesses.

3. Climate-Adapted Agricultural Field Days

Out on the farms, we hold practical sessions that bring sustainable agriculture right to smallholder cooperatives.

What’s covered: Live demos on precision drip irrigation, organic soil enrichment, and how to use drought-tolerant seed varieties.

How it works: ADVTP ag specialists set up local demonstration plots so farmers can try out these resource-saving methods with their neighbors, right on their own land.
